We build robust and reliable financial forecast models that are an essential tool to raising finance, buying or selling a business, or when assessing your current or future strategic options.

We can also review and improve your existing financial model to ensure it is accurate, consistent and aligned with best practices.

Our team have worked with range of clients across different sectors and stages of growth, from early stage startups to established mid market businesses.

Our bespoke models are laid out in a simple clean manner with flexible drivers allowing you to quickly make business critical decisions with ease, confidence and credibility.

Our approach

Define

We begin every model build by understanding your business objectives, assumptions, data sources and key drivers. We also define the scope, structure and outputs of the model, as well as the timeline and budget for the project.

Our models are user friendly and built in Excel. They normally include a 3-statement integrated profit and loss, balance sheet and cashflow monthly models driven by an assumptions tab and include useful dashboards with KPIs and What-if scenario analysis to test different assumptions such as a base case and upside case. We will help create a bespoke financial model with what you want to out of the model as well as what is expected from third parties such as lenders and investors.

Our team have extensive experience advising entrepreneurs, private equity, VCs and lenders so we know exactly what key metrics to focus in on and the level of detail required. Our models tend to fall into two categories of use:

Financial Planning & Analysis and Management Reporting:

We build forecasting models models that you can marry up to your accounting systems such as Sage, Quickbooks, Xero and Netsuite as well as help you produce your monthly and quarterly board packs. These models are frequently used to:

  • Evaluate the feasibility and profitability of your business idea or expansion plan;

  • Test different scenarios and sensitivities to assess the impact of changes in key variables;

  • Identify and quantify the risks and opportunities associated with your business or project; and

  • Monitor and track your actual performance against your budget and targets.

Transaction models:

Models are used to communicate your vision and strategy to potential investors, lenders, partners and stakeholders and to negotiate better terms and conditions for funding or transactions including:

  • Early stage fundraising - crowdfunding on platforms such as Crowdcube and Seedrs, high net worth investors, VCs and debt lenders;

  • Management buy-out (MBO) - management source equity and debt support;

  • Leveraged buy out (LBO)— acquiring companies with significant amounts of of debt lending and different types of debt;

  • Buy & Build - sequential add-on acquisitions of smaller companies; and

  • Infrastructure - large capital investment projects.

Build

Once we have agreed the scope of the model, we will let you know how much work is required, what information we need from you as well as a clear timeframe and cost to build.

Our models are relevant, robust, reliable and readily understood. We avoid complex coding and ensure our spreadsheets have a full audit trail that will stack up to any external due diligence.

Whilst we are spreadsheet geeks, our team are experienced in running businesses and corporate finance transactions.

Throughout the process, we will challenge your business assumptions and use our commercial knowledge and intel from industry contacts to ensure we tailor the model to your specific sector.

Deliver

We deliver the final financial model to you along with a comprehensive documentation that explains how the model works and how to use it. We also provide training and support to help you get the most out of your model. We can also update or modify the model as your business evolves or as new information becomes available including putting together board packs or presentations.

We are on hand to provide full transactional support from origination to completion incorporating the financial model build and delivery as part of the overall delivery timeline, if required.
